Testing a new banner for upcomiong promo posts
For various reasons, I'm trying a new type of logo/banner for our
fkficfest promos this year. Before I post to communities with it, may I ask you what you see? Here it is:
What I hope that you see is a horizontal strip of black-and-white FK set images that sizes to your screen (the same image as our collection's AO3 header), with the words "FK Fic Fest 2021" centered on the image in red font color, at a good header font size, and hopefully in a font family like immaj-FK or Chiller (or even just Comic Sans).
Does it work? Thank you!

Unfortunately, the reason that I am trying to create a banner via HTML and CSS this year is because I do not have ready access to my graphics or FTP program. The font you'll see in this sample depends on what fonts you have installed on your computer.
It sounds like we'll need to separate the words from the image, or go entirely without an image, this year.
Thanks!

I think it's a lovely background and I love the font, but for me, black background and red font is incredibly difficult to read, and add into it the textured background and I need perhaps black outlining on the letters to set them off.
I see the lettering centered across only the middle two images, not across the entire banner, was that intentional? Perhaps enlarging the lettering and spreading it across the banner in lieu of an outline on the letter would make it more readable? I think that might be easier than outlining the font, really!

My graphics and FTP software are on the computer that I can't easily access, so I was hoping that I could create something without them this year.
Thus, unfortunately, this is not a "real" banner image, just an HTML/CSS layering of words over the existing AO3 collection image. I can't control which font each viewer sees; it depends what is installed on her device.
Hmmmm.

What I saw on my friends page looked good, though. I have immajer-FK installed; so the banner looked very FK indeed.
Edited to add: comparing it with the banner on the AO3 collection, though, I'd say that the size-to-fit isn't working. I think so, anyway: it depends what was intended. Anyway, on the friends page I only see the first four pictures, i.e. from the water tower to Natalie's lab. The others are cut off.

From people's kind observations here, I've got some ideas. Fingers crossed.

6 images across the page, with the red text centered horizontally and vertically. I would suggest a white outline on the text to make it more legible. My machine is defaulting to maybe Times - not anything fun like immag-FK or chiller.

This "HTML, CSS, and duct tape" banner will never be as pretty and sure as a regular banner. :-) But we can get closer!
