PSA: D&DC toys
D&DC toys are real and on the way. See and pre-order the first wave now at Target.com.
As you know, the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon (1983-85) -- which won its Saturday-morning time-slot for 2 of its 3 years and re-ran in assorted time-slots for many years more, finally reaching streaming in an official Twitch marathon last year, despite the best efforts of sadly deluded '80s parents' groups -- is one of my favorite shows ever.
For some reason TPTB never released toys of its main characters in North America during the height of its popularity (very weirdly, they did release toys of some one-shot cameo characters in North America, but the main characters in Brazil and Portugal only). I've literally been looking for years for RPG tabletop minis sufficiently similar to the protagonists for me to paint to represent them... not for RPG play, but just because I love them and would enjoy having them on a little landscape base to move around and imagine over. (I don't need any more stuff in my home! But. But, but, but.)
Anyway, for the 40th anniversary, TPTB are finally releasing some toys, and they look sweet! The first wave is Hank, Diana, Bobby & Uni (packaged together), and Venger & Dungeon Master (packaged together, exclusive to Target). Presumably, the second wave will be at least Eric, Sheila, and Presto, perhaps with some others? Maybe Tiamat? The roller coaster car? Varla, Shadow Demon, Karena, Ramoud? Who knows?!
I've pre-ordered the first set. (TPTB were apparently aware enough to put the fandom's woobie, Eric, in the second set, and to split both major pairings -- Hank/Eric and Hank/Sheila -- across the sets. Or maybe it's coincidence.)
