Another thing that struck me when I rewatched it was the scene in the interrogation (or break?) room with Schanke and Delahanty. Delahanty seems to have kept much more in touch with their former acquaintances although he moved away than Schanke who still lives in Toronto. (And that before the age of facebook). This points towards Schanke's solitary social position which might be a consequence of the nightshift.
Although we do know from other episodes that Schanke has buddies he hangs out with like his bowling friends.
