Forever Knight managed to eschew the "helpless woman" trope to an extraordinary degree for a series that ended twenty years ago. Natalie, in particular, copes with practically anything you can throw at her. But she isn't the only one: I recall, in the final season, Tracy getting herself free from a serial killer before Nick showed up to save the day.
Come to think of it, when it comes to cars and plumbing, I suspect Nick is probably next to useless.
