I think I had to have known that you were familiar with Rurouni Kenshin, because you recommended the "Swordsman" crossover with HL, but I actually hadn't processed that it ranked among your favorites in any genre -- I may have thought you ran across the story for other reasons! I read all the RK manga (translated) and watched all the animae (subtitled). Such a fantastic fusion of historical fiction, genre adventure, and the pervasive social/emotional strains of a society coming out of such a warring period.
Thinking about it makes me want to revisit it, wondering, sadly, whether those themes of strain are more relevant to our society today, though we are now in the middle, not come out the other side...
