I really enjoy that story; thank you for writing it. And of course I concur that the first three episodes -- never mind the first five! -- span many months and a great deal of social, psychological, logistical, and economic adjustment that the show just skated past lalalalalala.
(Later on, the show starts referring to things like "the senior ship" and "the orphan ship," and eeeeeek how did that social arrangement come into being, and is it a good idea or an utterly monstrously hideous one, segregating civilian society like that?)
