The Reddit folks you cited here brought to my mind the early days of Pokemon GO, when some folks asked that same question, and literally had to be told: "Stand up and walk in the real world." ;-)
Do you usually play on the handheld itself, or do you usually cast to your TV or other big screen? My one in-person friend who plays is part of a big gamer household -- her husband works for a game company -- and they always play docked, and have a "tree" of assorted controllers next to their giant TV (hers, his, their kid's). The hosts on my favorite Zelda podcast, on the other hand, generally prefer to play on the handheld.
I definitely intend to follow the main storylines! I just won't be surprised by them... I think. ;-) We shall find out when the Switch II (or whatever they call it) comes!
