FK actor, Sandi Ross, deceased

I learned from greerwatson (post) the sad news that Sandi Ross, who played lab technician Grace Balthazar in the first two seasons of Forever Knight, died on August 31.

Here's an obituary/appreciation in NOW Toronto, written by a friend. And here's an interview with her from when she was named ACTRA's 2012 Woman of the Year. We here know her acting from FK, and perhaps other stories. She was also an activist for non-traditional casting on Canadian stage and screen.

The Grace character contributed immensely to FK for all of us, making the story bigger on the inside.

And it sounds like Ms. Ross equally contributed immensely to her community, profession and friends.

This just makes me so sad. She was one of my favorite minor characters on the show.

The Grace character contributed importantly to the human side of the story! And to the detective/scientist matrix of the procedural structure.

That Grace was one of the many elements jettisoned for third season ... was one of many unbalancing mistakes made at that fraught time, in my opinion.

Grace was a great character, I wish they'd done more with her. They had a great actor play her.

Yes, absolutely.

Grace's contributions as a story component on the human/police/daylight side were too little used on screen! Fanfiction has done better by her, but there's still much more to explore, I think.
