New FK DVD "The Complete Series" slim set arrived
Those of us who pre-ordered the new FK "The Complete Series" slim set DVDs from Amazon (order them discounted to $39.27 USD) got them this week.
abby82 promptly unboxed and reviewed the set (read her post & see her photos).
I didn't get around to opening my mail until today. I can now echo that the packaging is red and black, reminiscent of the original second-season North America DVD set (and of the German first-season DVDs). Its design focuses on the urban-fantasy vampire aspect; nothing represents the police procedural or historical fiction aspects. The Toronto skyline did make it in; curiously, it's not any of the angles we're accustomed to from FK's stock footage.
(I always appreciated that the blue of the original first-season DVD set called out to "blue" as the traditional and metaphorical police force color -- as well as to shades of night sky, especially night by the water, and the sky before dawn -- and that the design did make a little room for that so-important part of the whole that is FK.)

But fwiw, the new box set holding the complete three-season series is a bit less wide than any one of the previous single-season boxes. If space is a concern -- yet you still want "hard copies," as goodness knows what may happen to the streaming rights and availability in the future -- these absolutely take up less space!
