HLH_Shortcuts '19 is on

hlh_shortcuts 2019 sign-ups are now open. This is the major Highlander fanfic event of the year at this end of history. (HL has long been too big for Yuletide.) Read the sign-up post.

HLH_Shortcuts sets a 500-word minimum (shorter than FKFicFest). Sign-ups are public. The fest encourages broad matches, and daring to try to write outside your character or scenario comfort zone, if you can.

• Sign-up: September 22, 2019 to September 29, 2019.
• Assignments given: No later than October 6, 2019
• Due queued on the AO3: December 12, 2019
• Reveals start: December 20, 2019

I've read at least some of its stories every year this event has run. I've written for it the past 3 years.

I'm strongly inclined to sign up again. Yet I haven't forgotten hyperventilating over my [very real] inadequacies all 3 times I've participated as a writer. I'm on the distant outskirts of the fandom, and I worry about making a mess or hurting someone's feelings. (I've had fic events go awry like that. Trying my best doesn't guarantee I won't screw up.) Point being: I will think very hard about it. I have a week to decide!
