HL exchange '19 is revealing

hlh_shortcuts began its 2019 exchange reveals at the winter solstice, Duncan's birthday, as always. So far, the stories are coming 4 per day, which has us halfway through the current queue of 16. I believe that 21 people signed up originally, though some had to drop off; I don't know how that will tally up in the end. See the full list of fest works on the AO3.

Because many stories release each day, I've fallen behind in my reading. But the 3 I've read so far charmed and delighted me. I look forward to the rest.

This fest remains anonymous through the story-rollout stage.

(For the record, I did load my own story draft at deadline and then edit it relentlessly between loading and reveals. Hopefully, it's better now. Someday, I will learn to better manage to story-game timelines!)

Fingers crossed, and all the lucky gestures!

Hopefully, everyone will find at least one story that really satisfies. It's nicest if it's the specific gift story, yet, as you pointed out early in the fest, we're the remnant of the fandom, so to speak, and the fact of new HL stories to celebrate in common is also very nice, no matter what.

I've already enjoyed several, and had a good time with others that aren't entirely my cup of tea. I don't ship some of these pairings, but I delight in the authors' obvious delight in the writing of them, if that makes sense. I very much went overboard in the name of the ficathon this year, but also, eh, worth it.

Sixteen new stories for a fandom with a show that was canceled in 1998 and that had its last gasp in 2007 with ... The Source is pretty impressive!
