HL Chronicles Challege Game
Just in case you didn't know, the new fest community
hl_chronicles/
hl_chronicles has launched to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of "The Gathering," the premiere of Highlander: The Series, this fall. (Yes, 1992 was the GOLDEN AGE of syndicated TV premieres: FK, HL, DS9, B5, just off the top of my head. Yes, those were the days, my friend...) They have three separate challenges: "Timestamp," "2012 Reboot," and "20 Years: The Immortal View." Take your pick! Sign-ups close this Sunday, June 3. Rhi and Killa are the mods.
I wish I could play! But I am utterly exhausted, fiendishly over-busy, and, apparently, a little ill. Also, none of the three challenges are yet clicking with my own personal idiosyncratic view of HL (in which Duncan is the hero, the best characters are the mortals, and "Homeland" was perhaps the last proper episode... I'm weird, I know!). The challenges seem, sensibly, designed for people with more mainstream views of HL... which means lots and lots of people! Y'all write; I'll read and reply. Promise.

But the best part is, everyone gets to enjoy the posts...no signups necessary!

Thank you! You, too!

Oh, my! You remind me that Rachel survived canon! Where is she now? If only I knew more about Scottish and UK politics, because I picture her in Parliament... And how has Glenfinnan fared through this financial crisis? :-) But, unfortunately, those ideas -- and others like them -- do not fit into any of the three challenges.
(I asked Rhi whether the "free for all Fridays" might allow stories outside the challenge parameters; the answer, sensibly, is "No.")

Hey, if you set those ideas in 2012, they apply. "If the series were starting now, what stories would they tell?" Rachel MacLeod being both in Scottish/UK politics and running the B&B in Homeland might be fascinating! I can just see her asking Duncan how he feels about Scottish sovereignty.
Anyway, at that point, they're reboots. ::g:: If they're vaguely sequels to one of your own fics, they're timestamps.
Feel free to yell if you get an idea and want to see if it might fit?
I ♥ canon.
I will continue thinking!
I do not happen to know of any Rachel stories (that weren't just Rachel cameos in Duncan/Methos stories, that is). I did write a Charlie story that I love, but Charlie died, so no twenty years after for him... could go AU? I wonder whether Melina might have volunteered her Michelle story to be "timestamped"? I love that Michelle story! ~goes and looks~ No. Of course, I haven't spoken to Melina in so many years... she may even have died since we last spoke, for all I know. (Oh, grim, brain! Stop that.)
Never mind me. Again, thanks!
Re: I ♥ canon.
And most welcome. In that case, I hope you enjoy the timestamps and the 20 years results!
Re: I ♥ canon.
I'm sure I will enjoy everything people share... including enjoying grumbling "you kids get off my lawn!" to myself about the reboots. :-)
Re: I ♥ canon.
And no, I know what it's like to worry about fannish friends. It seemed worth the time to check and then mention. She's over on LJ as Melina123 if you didn't know.

I jest, of course! There are many wonderful tales! And I don't dislike Methos or Amanda! However, yeah, I personally feel marginalized in my preferences -- for Charlie, Tessa, Rachel; for the early seasons; for Duncan -- for the very simple and valid reason that I'm vastly, categorically, astronomically outnumbered.
But, seriously, I've been looking for well-written Duncan/Tessa for a decade now. If you know of any, or any well-written early-season gen besides Dragonfly's...?
