I had a connectivity outage at home, and while my independent local ISP was lovely about it and got it fixed, I'm afraid that it threw off the fkficfest/fkficfest promotional schedule just a little bit. I pushed two tonight to make up for missing one last night. Here's where we are:

• Announced on ForKni-L, last_writes, fandomcalendar, oldschoolfic and femme_fic.
• In the moderation queue on femme_fic and fk_fanfiction.
• Not yet announced on fk_icons, fandom_on_dw... and others? Suggestions? (These will be the last of those I know.)

While I was offline, though, both sholio (here!) and someone posting under lock (can't reveal where!) very generously mentioned FKFicFest on their own journals! Thank you both so very much! Person-to-person is the ultimate invitation.

We're still holding at four sign-ups submitted — and three promised sign-ups not yet submitted — for a total of seven, and so two short of playing exchange-style. We shall see...

Yuletide? Not the admin comm, but yuletide. People do put up notices about exchanges there.

Good idea! I took a look. I see that there are indeed other games promoted there now in fact, but their profile rules still explicitly say that "Anything not related to the Yuletide challenge" is forbidden. ~pondering~ I will look a little more deeply when I have a chance, but will tentatively put them on the list. Thank you.

(In our pre-game survey, several people promised to help promote the game on their own journals and communities and other venues. So far, as far as I've seen, three people have mentioned it on their own journals.)

I've posted a link to the game at the UF yahoo group, but I'm not sure anyone is reading that anymore. There haven't been any posts except for the monthly welcome post and the weekly chat invite since my previous post to get people to participate in the poll.

Have you tried to contact those who participated with FK requests at Fandom Stocking?

Other than that, I think we are pretty widely advertised, especially on ForKni-L.

Thank you for the reminder about reaching out to people individually! I'd planned emails to all past FKFicFest players this weekend, but I'd forgotten about the Fandom Stocking players. I'll PM them over the weekend.

I not only got to work before anyone could reasonably have been seeking me yet, I also left work after only 9.5 hours! There were other people still in the office and the sun hasn't set yet! It's astonishing!

Um. I'm a bit overworked. :-) But I'm off to fencing now, and your sign-up is counted, so everything is very good. :-)

We've tried everything. We can take satisfaction in that.

I've now individually messaged those who wished for FK in the most recent Fandom_Stocking game (who have neither already signed up for FKFicFest nor indicated that they're definitely not playing), and also most of those who've played FKFicFest in years past who haven't signed up yet (excepting those who have, one way or another, indicated that they're definitely not playing, or deleted their accounts, or...).

I've posted a reminder to ForKni-L, and I plan to post reminders to Fandom_Calendar and Last_Writes as the week goes on. (I don't plan to post reminders to all the other communities; I don't want to get spammy.)

This is the most widely promoted FKFicFest game to date, with the longest sign-up period. If we default into playing challenge-style, I believe that I can fairly say that I tried everything I could to invite people warmly and openly.
