So about FKFicFest 2021
It's time to start thinking about
fkficfest for 2021. (Did you realize that this year is the 25th anniversary of the first airing of "Last Knight?")
I'll soon put up a poll with the usual questions:
What else should our poll ask? What else should I consider?
Thank you!

I'll soon put up a poll with the usual questions:
- Do folks want to play this year, or skip a year?
- Do we want to play exchange-gift style or challenge-prompt style?
- If we play exchange-gift style, I think we should adopt a modified HLH_Shortcuts sign-up style, instead of our original sign-up style.
- If we play challenge-prompt style, how many prompts should we have? 1, 2, 3? We'll definitely elect the prompt(s), and use proper stack-rank voting, instead of first-past-the-post or points, to identify the most popular.
- When do we want stories to come due? We need ~2 months to write. So April, May, June, July, August?
- I hope everyone is okay with the minimum word-count staying lowered to 500 words...? No maximum, of course.
What else should our poll ask? What else should I consider?
Thank you!

I can honestly answer this with a "yes" as leela and I will have been together 25 years in February, and we watched it together the week before it aired (remember satellite tv?).

I never understood the satellite TV / early access phenomenon back in the day. I have since learned more about how many of those mechanisms worked... in plenty of time for it to be useful in, um, historical fiction. ~grin~

(Have you ever seen the video with the kids trying to figure out what a rotary phone is? I haven't laughed that hard in years.)

But I'm happy to go back to exchange-gift style, if we can loosen our parameters and expectations just a little (given how few of us there are, and how widely our tastes diverge).
I wrote up a model similar-to-HLH sign-up template for us last year: take a look at it? Instead of an "order" from the reader to the writer, it's more like a "menu" from which the writer can assemble a meal...?

I'm looking forward to playing again this year. I think you've covered all essential aspects for the survey.
I liked the way we played last year with a selection of three mutually chosen prompts. We'll ptobably be too few for exchange-style. But I don't know what the Highlander sign-up is and if it would amend the limited number of participants.
