Upcoming FKFicFest annual pre-game survey
I'd been planning to post the annual
fkficfest pre-game poll very soon. Then I got some news and I no longer confidently know when will be the best time for me to run the event this year.
While I sort that out, let me ask, more informally, what are you all thinking about the event this year? I know we have at least 4 folks interested, including me, so I do plan to run it (and many thanks to you all for continuing to love and share our show!). I'm sticking with the 500-word minimum and the one-story-per-day release schedule. We're a notoriously hard-to-match bunch, so I'm still thinking that challenge-style is a better fit for us than exchange-style (FK is more interpretively fractured than any other fandom I personally know; it's less that we have different favorites than that many of us seem to watch wholly different productions; and there are so few of us left).
What would you like in the event this year? Different approach to challenge-style? Better system for electing common prompts? More or less time between identifying the prompts and the due date? Early spring, late spring, early summer? Etcetera?

I know, I'm a complete rookie here, but I really liked the challenge-style. I felt very welcome in the fandom, and even though we're all very different in tastes and perception of the motif of the series, people are being very polite and encouraging.
I'm fine with the challenge-style, but exchange-style would also be cool.
Since I was late to the party last year, I don't know what the election process was like, but I found the time between prompts and due date adequate.
On another note: It's amazing, that after all this time, this fandom is still active, and people are still swapping ideas and stories. I hope it will remain this way for many years to come. :)

Thank you for sharing that your first FKFicFest went well from your perspective. I'm so glad to hear it!
To elect the prompts, we've been having 2 rounds: first nominations, and then a "ranked choice" election, where players identify which nominated prompt is their first choice, second choice, etc. I take those ranks and then apply math to identify the three prompts that work best for the most players. I am not an elections engineer ;-) and we have so few voters, so we have tried different math each year. My goal is for every player to have at least one of her three top choices in the final three prompts, if possible.

Thanks for explaining the process. I'm looking forward to it.

Fic Fest
I'm fine with any format or time period. :-)
