The instructions again say: "Requests are 3-10 fandoms with 1-10 character tags" while "Offers are 3-10 offers and 1-10 relationship field tags." This still confuses me; my brain is relentlessly literal with instructions. But I understand from you all now what it should actually say is: Requests and offers alike are 3-10 fandoms with 1-10 relationship-field tags; solo characters appear in the relationship-field tags with the prefix "Solo."
- Sign up on the AO3.
- Read the sign-ups announcement on DW.
- Read the full rules/FAQ on DW.
- Find the timeline on DW.
Core fandoms:
- Highlander got 19 nominations. Of them, I could write Ceirdwyn, Darius, Joe, Randi, Rebecca, Richie, Tessa, Duncan/Tessa, Tessa & Michelle, and Duncan & Tessa & Richie.
- Forever Knight clocked in with 21 nominations. Of them, I could write Schanke, Feliks, Janette, Reese, Stonetree, Nat, Nick, Urs, Nick/Urs, Nick & Natalie, Nick & Urs, Grace & Nat, Janette & Nat, Nick & Vachon & Tracy.
Some other fandoms I know you all love:
- For Malinaldarose, Earth: Final Conflict is nominated (Da'an & Liam, Ha'gel & Ma'el, Liam & Original Liam, Siobhan & Liam & Sandoval, Boone & Da'an).
- For Lightbird, Hey Arnold! is nominated (Gerald & Arnold or Helga/Arnold) and also the original Quantum Leap (Sam & Al, Sam/Al, Sam, Al).
- For Malinaldarose and ArgentumLS, The Tomorrow People (1992) is in with all gen (Ami & Lisa & Jade, Bill & Hasana & Penny, Bill & Megabyte, Megabyte & Adam, Megabyte & Ami & Adam & Jade).
- For several of you, SG-1 is in with 30 nominations!
A few miscellaneous canons that I checked:
- I could write Angel: The Series gen. Looks like AtS would have to be my third offer, if I decide to play. (Unless I go with Pride and Prejudice, but as much as I love and reqatch the A&E '90s P&P, I don't see how fanfic of it differs from fanfic of Austen...?)
- The Pokemon anime nominations do include Misty & Ash & Brock and Ash & Ash's Pikachu. But the rest are ships. Firmly Indigo League-era, appropriate to the '90s theme.
- Doctor Quinn: Medicine Woman got nominated with solid canon ships! No gen or solo.
- Darkwing Duck nominations include solo Goslyn.
- All the Sailor Moon nominations are ships, and only one canon ship among them (maybe two if you stretch to count Luna/Artemis (the cats)). No gen or solo.
- Dark Shadows (1991) got nominated! Wait, how can that have been 1991? Really? That was then? Well, that's a short canon to rewatch, technically, if one completely ignores its older sibling.
I really need to watch Babylon 5 one of these days. Maybe after Earth: Final Conflict. Also this 1990 Zorro that I somehow missed entirely (probably not aired in my area).
What are you thinking about this new fest? What will be fun for you?

Normally, I would be all over playing such an exchange, but the fact that I don't have a third "ready to write" show within the '90s by its rules, combined with the fact that I'd tried to pivot to more "just because" stories as a kind of New Year's resolution... We shall see!

Not sure if I'll have time to do this, given everything that's going on, but thanks for alerting me! And looking forward to reading everyone else's submissions.

I watched another E:FC episode last night, or at least tried to. I completely lost the plot thread because I got so distracted by thinking about the temporal balance. :-D That is, when this was produced, it was showing The Future, but is actually set roughly in what is now My Present; but all the cars are terribly, terribly early to mid-'90s; and while they successfully invented the internet, streaming, and Google Assistant/Siri, they call websites "netsites," and, most of all ... at least at the point of this episode... they completely failed to invent smartphones or tablets or even small laptops... and while the offices of folks who work for the Taelons have large flat-screen(ish) monitors, ordinary folks, like the police, have tiny terminal monitors, and so much paper... Anyway, my brain started cataloguing everything as "this is '90s" versus "this is supposed to be sci-fi," because some of it had not been registering on me as actually sci-fi, though it was at the time. :-)

Your interpretation is spot on. Another way to think about it might be: Offers are 3-10 fandoms with 1-10 characters or relationships from the tagset.
As for playing: I'm not sure yet. The schedule is about as bad for me as a schedule can be. However, the temptation is strong, and I may yet succumb.

This exchange is very tempting to me, too. (Which is why I keep posting about it, of course.) Despite the fact that I don't really have a third "ready to write" fandom to offer, I think I would be signing up, if I hadn't made a kind of New Year's resolution to re-learn how to write "just because" stories, with no prompt and no built-in audience.

Only out of curiosity, may I ask, do you ever write and post fanfic in German? I seem to remember that you don't, but it's been many years since I asked. (Time flies! And things can change.)

Yes, this exchange's concept is delightful and I wish it all success, but I may just read and comment, myself.

It's a pity the mod decided to limit this exchange to '90s TV. By comparison with the old

Yes, if the scope had reached back to the '80s or forward to the '00s, I would have had 3 shows I'm comfortable writing even without canon review, or if the scope had included '90s movies, I would have had options that I could fully review in a few hours, to pad out my offers. I imagine there's a reason that the Retrotvexchange folks didn't return for a second round, though; perhaps they found that their broad range didn't work well, either, for other reasons, and they told the '90s Exchange people that.
Good luck with your Worldbuilding Exchange!
