Key December exchanges sign-up countdowns

Highlander Holiday Shortcuts sign-ups remain open through 11:59pm Pacific Time, 22 October (which is about 38.5 hours away as I post this). I'll both write and read in this annual HL exchange. Yuletide sign-ups remain open and editable through 9pm UTC, Saturday, 21 October (which is about 5.5 hours away as I post this). I'm not playing Yuletide; I do look for stories to read there every year, especially in D&DC and other very sleepy beloved fandoms. Indeed, many fandoms, I read only during Yuletide, skimming the lists, seeing what's there, and remembering fondly what I might not otherwise have thought of. See yuletide_admin.

I saw someone lamenting on an anon meme that D&DC hadn't been nominated for Yuletide this year. I got the impression that they used their slots for other things, counting on someone else to make that nomination, and then it didn't work out. Someone else replied that it felt like such a mainstay of Yuletide that probably all the fans of the show had done the same thing, assuming it would just be there. So I'm afraid you may not see any stories this year, but hopefully the people who wanted it this year and didn't get it will remember to nominate it next year.

On the bright side, there was one request and four offers for Forever Knight, so perhaps you'll get a good story there.

Thank you for letting me know D&DC didn't get nominated. That's disappointing. I, also, took it for granted that someone would nominate it, simply because someone always has before.

(I must admit, in addition to the annual hope for new D&DC stories to read, I was kind of also hoping this year that folks who came looking at December D&DC stories might see and read the D&DC stories I've posted this year.)

Truly, thank you for the news!

On reflection, it's ironic that D&DC didn't get nominated this year, 2023, specifically. This year is its 40th anniversary. The characters had cameos in the Honor Among Thieves movie. The long-wished-for action figures finally came out. The long-wished-for comics finally came out. There's even a Little Golden Book. This has been the biggest year for D&DC since cancellation!
