AO3 "Gift Notification" messages in fests

It appears that the automated "Gift Notification Message" on the AO3 works only when an entire collection (e.g. fest, ficathon, event) is released all at once, not when each story is released individually. I had thought that the notification message had worked for us in FKFicFest in the past, and that I must have accidentally mis-set something last year when it didn't, but...

I'll plan to individually email the story recipient each day of the fest.
