MyOldFandom sign-ups extended
The mod for
myoldfandom has extended sign-ups until noon on Monday, March 28 (because Easter Triduum observances might interfere with sign-ups for some).
At this time, I see few requests that I could fill, myself: a D&DC request for a no name, no lines, spear-bearer character (sadly, no other options); an HL request that seems to have listed Duncan/Tessa by mistake (the details specify that the requester wants only slash or gen); HL's Richie or Cierdwyn for ArgentumLS (I don't dare offer Duncan or Darius; the requests show that people want what I can't give); and maybe, if I stretch hard, the Tron (1982) request.
I'm still considering playing. But I'm a bit concerned.
I'm starting to think that I should instead see whether people might be up for some sort of mini events. For example, "If Malinaldarose will write me BSG78, I'll write her... something she wants." ;-) Okay, so that's where it always breaks down, at every scale, finding people who can write what the others want to read. I should probably follow PJ's lead...

The advertising, though, I think was the problem. I only saw the exchange advertised in two places, and one I had to go searching for. There was nothing on tumblr. My own posts about it pulled a few people in. I wonder how many more would have come in with some dedicated recruitment.

More specific matches are indeed nicer, when they work! In the particular fandoms I was looking at when I posted that remark on Saturday, the groups seemed to be posing an obstacle to matching.
All but four people did get successfully matched, in the end, so I was probably needlessly concerned.
>"I only saw the exchange advertised in two places..."
I saw only one, myself. Before nominations opened, I gave the mod a list of DW & LJ communities that I thought would be good for promoting this event; she didn't choose to use it. ~shrug~
And even up above in this thread, one of the people on my f-list -- right here! -- says that she didn't hear about the event until I made this particular post. (I'd mentioned it before, but not enough for her to notice.)

I saw your list and thought it looked really good! I can only imagine she either thought that what she was doing was enough, or she wanted to keep the first round small to see how the event went out of the gate.

Likewise. I posted a couple times on tumblr, and people who I know follow me and read my page didn't see the post until I spoke to them directly.
