So the first thing I did after submitting my "We Love Female Characters" ficathon entry to the happy limbo of the moderated queue over at [livejournal.com profile] femme_fic was to switch out the image on my home desktop.  For two months, I've been looking at the characters who star in that particular story -- screenshots and manipulations at home, a symbol at work -- and it's time for a change!  I popped up a favorite from the tag of "Feeding the Beast" (image via NT's esteemed Knightwatchman), with Nick, Natalie and Schanke looking at his canvas -- Schanke pontificating, Nick credulous, and Natalie skeptical.

Didn't we use to have a term for the three of them together, an equivalent to the "Fang Gang" for the other character triad?  I can't seem to remember it.

Now that you mention it, I want to say we did. But I can't for the life of me remember what it might have been.

Excellent choice! Look at all the bright, pretty colors, not just on the three of them together but on Schanke alone. :-)

Yup. :-) In first season, any happy gathering of Nick, Schanke and Natalie tends to be a riot of gold, fuchsia and blue. It's the palette of mortality! In first-season.

Second season, we get these greens and oranges dominating, and maroon creeping in. Third season -- was there color in third season? Browns, maroons, navies, grays... Natalie's melon-pink suit in "Black Buddha" is almost an aberration, a strange washed-out reflection of her fuchsia first-season suit... perhaps all of third season is subconsciously black and white, not only the crunched memories in "Night in Question."
