Rarewomen 2014
Monday, January 20th, 2014 05:18 pmIt's time for the 2014
rarewomen Ficathon! Come play? I've had a blast each year I've participated. As in past years, this ficathon features rarely fanwritten women characters (in any and all fandoms). As last year, play will happen entirely on the AO3, with mod posts on LJ, a DW RSS feed and a platform-agnostic RSS feed.
Anyone can nominate characters! Nominations are not a commitment to play. After nominations, players request 3-6 fandoms with 1-10 women characters per fandom, and offer 3-10 fandoms and 1-20 women characters per fandom (all from the nomination set).

havocthecat has posted about possible nominations in SGA, Sleepy Hollow, The Witches of East End and FK. I don't see any of the rest of you there yet. What nominations do you have in mind? Shall we conspire and trade? :-)
I've made four "promotional posts" in the nominations discussion thread: FK, HL, YB and Original BSG.
At this time, I'm thinking of nominating the first five characters in each of these lists below, leaving the rest for you to nominate... or to convince me to nominate instead of the ones I've listed. On many of these, I'm easy! (You know I'll write and read almost anyone in FK.) On others, I won't be budged.
If nominations are up to 5 characters in up to 5 fandoms, as last year, that leaves me a spare fandom for horse-trading.
Aside: What's "rare"? Out of 3,052 HL works on the AO3, only 52 (1.7%) tag Tessa, 10 Anne, and 3 Randi. ~wince~ But out of 510 FK works on the AO3, 243 (47.6%) tag Natalie and 142 Janette. FK, in canon and fandom both, does better by its women characters than almost* any fandom I know.
* Excepting Call the Midwife and Sailor Moon, obviously...
