  • [livejournal.com profile] oldschoolfic, the community for canceled fandoms, is currently polling for the timing of their annual winter exchange ficathon.  (At this time, "due after the winter holidays" leads with 73%.)  I've played every game they've had to date, and plan on playing again this time.  (I've written FK, HL and BtVS there; I've also listed myself for YB, original BSG, BATB, Doctor Quinn, MotG, BallyK, and some animated series.)

  • [community profile] last_writes, the community for canceled vampire fandoms, is running its second annual "Trick or Treatise" fest throughout October.  The prompts are recycled from last year, which means that all the FK prompts were submitted by, well, me.  Sorry about that.

  • HL did qualify for the next [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange game; FK did not.  Sign-ups close on 10/10 at 10PM Central Time.

  • [livejournal.com profile] amilyn created a new fiction community: [livejournal.com profile] tropeathon.  Their first game is "pretending to be married/undercover as lovers."  At first, that didn't sound like any of my fandoms, but [livejournal.com profile] gnosticdiva submitted a Nick/Natalie prompt, and it occurred to me that there's no reason that Nick&Tracy wouldn't work, and in HL there are always flashbacks...

  • [livejournal.com profile] femgenficathon is officially closed for 2011, but is laid-back about late submissions; some are still expected.  I'll have recommendations for stories from this game as soon as the masterlist goes up.  Nothing was submitted in FK or HL, unfortunately — my own story was YB — but the pieces I've read there have all been thoughtful and diligent, and a few have been inspired and amazing.

Recently in FK on my LJ Friends List and DW Reading Page:

Fests and Ficathons.  In [community profile] last_writes, the community for out-of-production vampire fandoms, fest prompt claiming is on.  Six FK prompts are available, plus several "any fandom."  (I'm afraid that I submitted all the FK ones myself, though.)  Tomorrow, 09/30, is the last day to claim prompts.

Fanfiction
Cast, Crew and TPTB
  • On 09/21, under lock, someone announced that the Pensacola Shakespeare Theatre is selling tickets online to Geraint Wyn Davies and Claire Lautier's performance of scenes from Shakespeare and Wilde.
  • On 09/18, under lock, someone noted that GWD's Chautauqua, NY performances of Do Not Go Gentle have been canceled.
  • On 09/23, under lock, comments on someone's post in a different fandom wandered into reminiscences of the FK "Web Comic" project proposed by TPTB at the "Bridging the Knight" con in January '97 (specifics of the proposal met with violent enmity in some quarters, and nothing ever came of it).

Airings.  Chiller, the US horror cable channel, will next air FK on 10/13, 9:00AM-2:00PM.  This time, they're launching second season.  (I expect the short versions that the Sci-Fi (now SyFy) Channel trimmed in the late '90s.)

A few ficathon games are gearing up now, with pressing sign-up timelines:

Halloween!  [personal profile] spook_me is a multifandom Halloween ficathon on both LJ and DW (no fandom restrictions).  To play, sign up with your chosen fandom and a horror creature, receive two prompts in the form of horror-comics covers, and write a story featuring one of your prompts with your creature in your fandom.
--> Now-09/15: Sign-up | 09/16: Prompts sent | 10/26: Stories due

Crossovers!  [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange is a multi-fandom crossover exchange game on LJ only (FK is not invited; HL is).  To play, sign up with at least five fandoms from their master list that you like to read and at least four that you can write, plus your prompts; receive a match slate submitted by someone who requested to read at least two of the fandoms you said you could write; write a crossover.
--> Now-09/17: Sign-up | 09/27: Prompts sent | 11/12: Stories due

Vampires! At Halloween!  [community profile] last_writes's "Trick or Treatise" ficathon is a Halloween game in the DW community for out-of-production vampire fandoms (so FK yes, HL no).  It is prompt-claiming style (same as the current [community profile] femme_fic round).  People may submit prompts without intending to write (though of course they'd be happiest if many people write!).
--> Now-09/23: Submit prompts | 09/24-09/30: Claim prompts | 10/30: Stories due
