A question came up last month that I felt I should address here on the next newsletter post. These "FK Recently" installments are reportage, not recommendations, endorsements, or approval. I list items because they are FK-relevant. This sometimes includes items with which I disagree and usually includes stories I have not read. I sincerely apologize to those who perceived this newsletter as recommendations or endorsements! I will label it more clearly from now on.

(Is this newsletter still of much interest, or has it far outlived its expiration...? It takes time. I could drop it altogether. Or replace the FK focus with something general to my current interests.)

• yuletide_admin is processing nominations, and FK should be among them. They've also issued a default amnesty; if you've previously defaulted, learn about reinstatement. This is Yuletide's 21st year.
• smallfandombang, a challenge for stories of 10K+ words in small fandoms, has sign-ups through October 31. FK qualifies.
• sick_or_treat, a free-for-all challenge for hurt/comfort stories titled after Pokemon moves, runs October 1 to November 30.
• latetreatbonanza, a motivational event for leftover/unfinished fic gifts and treats, is open through December 24.
• trope_of_the_month's October theme is "last times."
• allbingo's October theme is "fall fest."
• fancake's October theme is "undercover."

• fandomgiftbasket fills continue through September 9.
• womansplace, a prompt fest for characters who identify as women (with some leeway for NB characters), has prompting through October 29 and fills through November 4.
• dailyicons is a community of 2-day challenges to create icons.
