FK fandom used to give blood as its signature charity contribution
Monday, March 23rd, 2020 07:40 amI hope you all are well and safe, medically and economically!
For my part, just me, personally, I've been working from home for a few weeks now under "shelter in place" orders. I know that I am very, very, very lucky to be healthy so far and not in immediate fear of going without a paycheck.
I've started looking for ways that I can contribute to helping in this emergency while still [over]working as usual.
Just thought I'd share the idea. ♥

I've started looking for ways that I can contribute to helping in this emergency while still [over]working as usual.
- My best friend is a quilter; she's making cloth masks to donate (yes, we've reached the point where this is a thing; the fabric must be very close-woven, high-thread-count cotton). I don't own a sewing machine, and I don't have the right fabric.
- As I identified some charities, I noticed that I haven't yet seen the usual fandom reaction of charity fundraiser fanwork auctions, because of course those come after disasters, and this disaster is still now.
- Then I remembered that giving blood used to be FK fandom's preferred method of helping the community.
Just thought I'd share the idea. ♥
