brightknightie: Nick's caddy parked at his loft ("My Fandom Knows Trunk Space") (Caddy)
This year's elected prompt pool is posted on [community profile] fkficfest. Read the prompts. I've set up the year's new sub-collection on the AO3 and drafted the next two admin posts. Updates this year are light, with clarifications about definitely not using LLM/genAI tools to draft/write (but to brainstorm and proofread is fine, if you like), supporting posting to the DW community queue instead of the AO3 collection if you prefer (please use our template and alert me in advance), and that our longstanding rule against trolling applies to stories, comments, and conversation alike (constructive criticism is okay; baiting and bashing aren't). Let's be excellent to each other!

Whew.

That said, I'm curious how folks are feeling about this experiment with electing the prompts via single-elimination brackets. The experiment tested 3 independent hypotheses: that more of us would find it more fun, that more of us would find it more transparent, and that it would yield more widely acceptable or inspiring prompts. Until we see the stories, we won't fully know whether the winning prompts are all that we want. But first impressions on the rest...? How do you feel this approach compared to previous first-past-the-post (most votes wins) and ranked-choice (non-viable choices are eliminated, and votes redistributed, until winners achieve a support threshold) approaches?
