brightknightie: Schanke reading Emily's novel (Reads)
I received an email from Kelly G. asking after an FK story she almost remembers, but not quite enough to track down, and which she'd like to read again.  I didn't know it off the top of my head; do you?  Here's how she describes it:
"...a longer story, set during the third season, when LaCroix was broadcasting his show out of the Raven.  In this story, one of his listeners began to stalk him.  It was a young man, and he started to dress like LaCroix.  He showed up at the Raven every night, wanting to watch LaCroix and I think wanting LaCroix to notice him ... eventually he did become aware of this fan.  ...[T]here was another plotline involving some murders, and I think somehow these two plots met up towards the end."

It does almost sound familiar.  Perhaps I read it, but I perceived the aspect she describes as a subplot, and something else as the main plot?  Or perhaps I never read it at all.  (I did recommend that she ask on ForKni-L.)

Addendum 11/13/10: Kelly asked on ForKni-L, and the list answered: It's "Knight Lights" by J. L. Kerr, the main plot of which concerns Nick and Tracy searching for a pyromaniac.

The moderator of [livejournal.com profile] oldschoolfic, the community for fanfiction in canceled fandoms, has posted the fandom eligibility poll for its annual winter ficathon.  If you plan to play, please vote!  (She didn't mention how long the poll will be available.)  Both Forever Knight and Highlander are on the ballot, along with the original Battlestar Galactica, Robin of Sherwood, Blood Ties, SG1&SGA, and many others.

This community holds two or three ficathons a year.  Past games have had from 8 to 17 participants.  It once experimented with "claiming," but returned to the "exchange" model.  Here are the most recent game's rules; here are the 2009 winter game's rules; and here is their profile.  They seem to have a late-January deadline in mind this time.  In past games, the Buffyverse has been the most frequently written, followed by Veronica Mars, HL and FK (in a three-way tie), then Firefly and The West Wing (two-way tie), and so on (see their tags).

I've played in all their games, producing, fwiw, "Present Company" (HL), "In a Family Way" (FK), "What Remains has Always Been" (BtVS), "Fearful Symmetry" (FK), "So This is Home" (HL), and "A Delicate Balance" (FK).  As you can see, I've usually been very lucky in the prompts I've received!
